Frequently Asked Questions

Are you registered?

Yes, we are all Registered Massage Therapists. Current training is an intense, 3000 hour course. Registered status is only achieved after passing the standard Provincial Board exams. Continuing Education is a requirement to maintaining registered status. Registered therapists also have strict practice bylaws and guidelines and are subject to the Health Professions Act.

Will my extended health plan cover my massage? If so, how much?

Yes, however every plan is different. Please contact your insurance provider prior to making an appointment if you are concerned about reimbursement.

Do you direct bill to Extended Health Benefits?

We do not bill insurance companies directly, you will receive a receipt which you can submit to your insurance company.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

You do not need a referral to see a Registered Massage Therapist. If you are being covered by your Extended Health Care be sure to check your policy to see if a referral is required for treatment reimbursement.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy at Massage Therapy on 9th requires a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment time. Late cancellations and missed appointments will be billed the full cost of the session.

Do you offer pregnancy (pre natal) massage?

Yes, pregnancy massages are available.

We provide the option to use our special pregnancy pillow which will allow you to lay comfortably on your stomach for your appointment no matter how far along you are.

Do you offer massage sessions for children/teenagers?

Yes, little people need massages too :)

Do you accept ICBC and WCB claims?

We do accept ICBC claims. Clients on an ICBC claim pay at the time of treatment then are reimbursed by ICBC, we do not direct bill. Currently WCB only accepts direct billing from practitioners. If you are on a WBC claim we suggest you talk with your adjuster to see if you can add massage therapy to your treatment without direct billing.

Do you have a receptionist?

We do not have a receptionist on site. Please contact us via text or email for the quickest response. Because we don’t have a receptionist, we lock our front door while in treatments and ask that you arrive only 5 minutes before your appointment. If you have come early and the door is locked - please do not knock, we are just finishing up a treatment and will be out shortly.

What is the best way to book an appointment?

Our user-friendly online booking system t shows all appointment availability for each therapist. If you do not wish to use the online system, please call, text or email us.

The address takes me to a house. Am I at the right place?

Yes. When you arrive, follow the path that takes you to the left of the house. Please open the gate and walk to the end of the walkway along the side of the house. You will then see stairs that take you down to the clinic’s front door.
